Hello, today's post is all about compromise. Here, l'm gonna be explaining things you need to know about compromise. Before you proceed, get a pen and a joter to jot down important points so you don't forget them. So let's dive in..........
Compromise is agreeing to secure momentary gain and later face shame and reproach. It's the act of giving out something valuable or important in exchange of something else (usually not valuable but just for momentary pleasures). In order words it simply means changing the question to suit the answer. Compromise can be expressed in different forms either by your speech, actions and also your faith.
Compromising your faith is not believing and acting on God's word no matter the circumstances. God does not condole his word's or commandments being compromised. As a Christian, whenever you turn wrongs right, you're compromising, it's not contrary to God's word and what ever is not contrary to God's word is compromise.
Going through this wicked world, we hear many calls to compromise which includes, the fleeting pleasure of sin, the lust of the flesh etc.
Hebrews 11:24-25 (The amplified version) says, "By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter because he preferred to endure the hardship of the people of God rather than to enjoy the passing pleasure of sin"
While I was reading this bible passage, my heart firstly captured the part that says "When he had grown up".
This is a typical example that we as christians, for us to avoid compromise we have to grow. When I say grow, it starts by self-recognition. As Moses grew up it was well know to him that he doesn't belong to the house of pharaoh. He knew who he was and he didn't compromise. Refusal to compromise is just like what Moses did as stated in verse 25 which says,
"He preferred to endure the hardship of the people of God rather than enjoying the passing pleasure of sin".
Resisting compromise makes you endure till your victory but accepting compromise would make you enjoy the momentry pleasure of sin which is just temporary.
Compromise accommodate capitulation to wordly ways or ideal. It's also embracing an idol and saying you're a follower of Christ. The word of God makes it clear that one cannot serve two masters at a time, it's either you hate one and love the other. As a Christian, keeping idols is very wrong, you have to either take the god's away and give God sovereignity over your life or you do vice versa. You can never worship both simultaneously, for it is written that darkenss and light have nothing in common.
When you're born again, you're in Christ which makes you a new creature. To enjoy your relationship with God you have to put an end to whatever that doesn't aligned to God's word to prevent distractions. After repentance, alot of people still go back to their traditional games. I'm not saying engaging in some cultural activities is bad but as a Christian you have to be very careful because most of these activities carried out are ungodly. You have to seek the holy spirit to ensure you're on the right track.
One of the consequences of serving two masters is God spew you out of his mouth cause you are neither hot nor cold, Revelation 3:19.
This is the end of today's discussion, I believe you enjoyed it. Please let me know what you think about this in the comments section below.
